EMDR therapy has significantly improved my life, helping me process PTSD from various traumatic events that led to severe social anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and dissociation in adulthood. Unlike talk therapy, which only works on a conscious level, EMDR actively targets and releases trauma stored in the subconscious. In my experience, medication provided only temporary relief, masking my symptoms rather than addressing the root cause. EMDR has been the most effective approach to treating my disorders. Another thing that I appreciate about EMDR is that it allows me to feel fully in control throughout the process. Lastly, the of the most remarkable aspects of EMDR—in my opinion—is that it helped me unlock and remember parts of myself I had forgotten, helping me understand why I feel the way I do. This insight has deepened my self-understanding and empowered me, now knowing my anxiety about some things was not without cause. Today, I feel so much happier and more productive in my day-to-day life. When I think back on the trauma, it hardly affects me anymore, if not at all. The journey has been transformative in ways I didn’t expect going into it at first.
